Report by Callum Robertson
It was a cold, wet miserable day at Central park with Dyce RFC knowing they were going to have their work cut out against a strong Police side. Dyce had some key players missing for various reasons but were more than raring to get out onto the pitch and prove a point.
The team showed up fresh and ready to go apart from Jack Gray (The sesh monster) showed up still steaming and stinking of the previous night's VKs. Dyce started off quite well with some good defence and dominating in the scrum. It took the Police 5 minutes to break Dyce’s defensive line with the number 13 running like a gazelle and dancing through the Dyce defensive line. Not long after the number 12 (Matt McCall) and number 13 (the gazelle) ran more tries through Dyce’s leaky defence. The centre pairing ran their show all day.
Gregg Jack (the broken record) made some good runs with his snakey hips. A little scuffle where the wind from someones hand gently breezed his face sent him down like a sack of tatties. We spent the next 28465 days listening to this story. Dyce came close to scoring when Danny (i'll let you know my availability Saturday) McGregor made a good break but ended up being turned over after the tackle. The Police bossed the back line with their slick passing and hard runners.
HT: Dyce RFC 0 - 64 NE Scotland Police
The second half produced much the same as the first, where the Police just ran more tries over the line. Andrew Clarke (I've been shot again) had some good tackles even though he was playing out of position.
FT: Dyce RFC 0 - 106 NE Scotland Police
The Dyce team look forward to putting this result behind them and getting on with league action where we aim for a good few upsets this coming season.
Despite the heavy loss Dyce sit third of four teams in Pool 3 of the Referee's Cup with Fraserburgh disqualified in round 1.
