After a 10 week playing hiatus, Dyce RFC return to the pitch at Woodside Sports Complex on Saturday to face a competitive Aberdeenshire 2nd XV in gameweek of the BT Caledonia 3 North league.
Following a break incorporating November internationals, frozen pitches & snowy weather, and a festive season of over indulgence Dyce RFC will be hoping to banish the early season malaise and start 2018 with a bang. Momentum built during the stretch of matches since Huntly in October provided some optimism following heavy defeats at the start of the season. Extra incentive going into this fixture is provided given as the players are not seeking a repeat of the ass whooping they were handed in gameweek 2; an 88-0 home defeat following a tempestuous second half in which both yellow and red cards were shown by the referee.
With Shire 2nds high flying in the league with 3 wins from their last four fixtures following the breakdown of their partnership with Aberdeen Grammar (resulting in their dropout from National league 2), they possess both dangerous and industrious players more than capable of cutting through the Dyce defense. With a reputation of being a heavy pitch, especially at this time of year, Woodside could see some tighter play than was on offer at a sunny Dyce back in September.
Supporters are welcome, as always, to cheer on both clubs.
KO is 2pm at the Woodside Sports Complex on the banks of the river Don in Aberdeen
Score updates will be on Twitter and the Ultimate Rugby app as usual
