Dyce seek season re-boot after weekend off
This weekend sees Dyce travel to Elgin to face Moray 2nd XV in the BT Caledonia Caley 3N league after a week’s rest from the league competition. Following the early season heavy defeats to Kinloss Eagles and Shire 2nds, there is a huge appetite from the Dyce squad to change the season for the better, get some points on the board and put in a competitive performance in gameweek 3.
Dyce travel without co-captain Rob Childs who is serving his suspension following his red card last time out in the league, although an experienced pack should be able to cover his absence adequately. Captain David Hay leads an inexperienced back line seeking to replicate the good attacking form put on at the end of last season.
Coach Gibson commented “Looking for the team to build on hard training sessions during the week and show improvements in defence and work at the breakdown from previous weeks, which has resulted in easy run in tries. Rest last weekend means I am expecting high work rate from all of the boys who are keen to get some points on the board”.
Moray 2nds, who are one and one from their first couple of games, beat Fraserburgh in a try-fest away at James Ramsay Park 39-25 last time out. The danger men, no.9 Ian Thomson and Richard Lewis, who scored 19 points against Fraserburgh, will be the Moray men to watch out for.
Saturday’s KO has been brought forwards to 1pm, and there are spaces on the bus (which will leave the Greentrees at 10am) for supporters wanting to come and cheer Dyce on.
