Rugby is back...

Rugby is back & Dyce are top of the League.

Last weekend after a 18 months without a league game Dyce got the 21/22 season off and running. The lads showed no signs of rust early doors as they secured a turn over within the opening phases before making a break down the right wing with Fraserburgh recovering to tackle the winger into touch 5m from the try line. This started a long period where Dyce were camped in the Fraserburgh 22.

Eventually Fraserburgh were able to break out but only to cough up possession once more and give Dyce a mid field scrum, after the pack got the early nudge Danny Macgregor lifted a perfectly weighted chip over the Broch rush defence which bounced perfectly for Duncan Scott who raced over the tryline flanked by 2 supporting players.

From the kick off Dyce went straight back onto the offensive first pinning Fraserburgh back into their 22 with another fantastically weighted kick made all the better by the tireless chase. From the resulting Dyce lineout, Dyce played some well connected phases before Callum Robertson bashed through 4 players on his way for his first try of the day.

The Dyce dominance continued as Danny Macgregor broke through the middle to streak away for his first try of the season, quickly followed by Jack Gray. However all good things must come to an end and some poor discipline and silly mistakes let Fraserburgh back into the game and after a few pigging back penalties they finally crossed for their first try of the game, a smart move of the back of a lineout to set free their hooker.

This however did not derail the Dyce train which soon stormed back into the 22where it finished the half only just being held out by some stern defence.

The second half followed much the same pattern with both Callum Robertson and Duncan Scott running away early to score their braces. After which Dyce let Fraserburgh back into the game with silly errors and penalties. Despite holding firm in the 22 for a solid 15 minutes eventually the dyce wall broke and Broch got in for their second of the day.

Dyce annoyed that their line had been breached once more hit back straight away with a neat inside ball sending Craig Philip away to open his account for the season, immediately followed by now boy Jonny Clipston sailing through from a goal line drop out to score on debut.

The scoring was not finished there though as Fraserburgh were able to flop Over once again from close range and have the last say.
