Away trip to Huntly gets Dyce fired up for clash with rivals
Huntly host rivals Dyce on Saturday in gameweek 7 at the Gordon Playing fields at 3pm. A healthy contingent of returning, experienced players are to make the hour’s trip north aiming for their first win of the season against a stuttering Huntly side struggling to be consistent.
With 8 players out of contention for playing on Saturday, Dyce will field a burgeoning squad with a mix of youth and experience. The squad welcomes back long term absentees Phil Horsfall, Krystian Kucharski and Duncan Scott, as well as Co-captain Rob Childs adding strength and depth across the park. The addition of some experience should help address the lack of attacking potency displayed by Dyce so far this season after only registering 31 points on the scoreboard since the start of the season.
Seeking to put last weekend’s disappointing performance to bed, the boys in blue need no extra motivation this week due to the fierce rivalry between the clubs since back in the late 2000s. With well attended, fierce training sessions this week there is a feeling amongst the players that this week Dyce could buck its current losing trend and upset the form books.
Ever-present for Dyce this season, Rob Haden commented "I've been looking forward to this game all week - some real intensity at both trainings this week has the team fired up to put together an 80 minute performance. Personally, having had the boots back on after a few years away from it, I am feeling more comfortable each week and am raring to go!"
Huntly, who despite a slow start to the season, beat Inverness Craig Dunain 51-19 at home at the end of September before drawing away at James Ramsay Park 19-19 last time out against Fraserburgh. With 6 points on the board they sit 9th, three places above Dyce going into this weekend’s fixture.
Saturday’s KO is scheduled for 3pm and there are spaces on the bus (which will leave the Greentrees at 1pm) for supporters wanting to come and cheer Dyce on. Please contact the club to secure your seat! Score updates can be found through YouScore on the Ultimate rugby app and via twitter.
