Dyce host University students at Central Park
The Aberdeen University team are welcomed to Central Park this weekend as Dyce look to continue their improvement over the past few weeks.
Gameweek 6 is likely to see a large away contingent arrive in Dyce with rugby hungry students out to impress in the early part of the season despite only being able to field a team and complete a match since the 23rd September. Being one and one from two games, the University team fell to a 38-19 defeat up in Inverness, before emphatically thumping Fraserburgh 92-12 on home turf last weekend at the King’s pitches. During the week in the BUCs league the 1st team lost 16-3 in Dundee whilst the 2nd team scored four tires to get a maximum 5 points in a 3-22 win against Edinburgh Napier 1sts. Third and fourth teams also played matches on Wednesday afternoon.
Dyce on the other hand are still winless and pointless despite an upturn in performances over the past few weeks with a narrow 19-10 defeat to Wanderer’s 2nd XV at home and scoring three tries in Peterhead despite losing by some margin. With several players unavailable for Saturday, including front row players, the match could start with uncontested scrums. Training has continued to focus on the attack elements of the game as well as general fitness.
The man in the middle with the hard job will be Ray Mellis. We thank you for your time.
Saturday’s KO is 3pm and the weather forecast is breezy with light showers so come along to watch the game pitchside. Our gazebo will be up to shelter under should any rain come on.
