Wanderer’s 2nd XV visitors as Dyce seek to reap benefits of hard training sessions
Dyce RFC host Aberdeen Wanderer’s 2nd XV in the fourth gameweek of the BT Caledonia 3N league competition at the Central Park pitches on Saturday 23rd September.
A nearly full strength team are set to take to the field on Saturday afternoon with kick off scheduled for 3pm.
With the turning weather indicating the passing of summer into autumn, the heavy rain forecast in the build-up to the match could force the match to be played on the newly built 4G pitch for only the second time in Dyce history. A pitch inspection will be held on Saturday morning.
With both teams yet to record a victory this season, both teams will be vying to come out on top in what will surely be a high scoring contest. With both defences leaky, Dyce will be seeking to capitalise and be on the front foot in front of home supporters.
Coach Guy Gibson commented “the lads are itching to get some points on the board with more experience back in the squad. We are hoping this will pave the way to our first win of the season.”
The last time the two sides met at Groat’s Road back at the end of last season, saw Wanderers seconds take the initiative after an equal first half (14-14) to prevail 40-21 in front of a large home crowd. The last time Dyce recorded victory over the west end team was in the previous encounter, bizarrely way back in the 2012-13 season (Sat 22 Sep 2012), where a strong Dyce team thumped the Wanderer’s 2s 0-52 in their own backyard.
